Women are now the primary breadwinners in almost half of all American families with children-yet women still are not receiving equal pay for equal work, let alone equal pay for work of equal value. Here are a few key facts about the gender wage gap to keep in mind.

  1. Women earn just 79 cents for every dollar made by men.
  2. Female lawyers earn even less with partners earning 69 cents for every dollar their male counterparts earn.
  3. The gender wage gap most severely affects women of color and the wage gap exists within all racial and ethnic groups.
  4. Women earn less than men in all but five occupations.
  5. Despite the fact that women now earn the majority of college degrees, the wage gap persists.

Join the Women in Profession Committee and the Labor & Employment Law Committee in exploring the state of equal pay for women in the workplace. Panelists will discuss and examine the following issues:

  • Female partnership rates and attrition
  • A historical look at whether and to what extent improvements have been made
  • Legal protections and remedies available to level the playing field
