This CLE program is an introduction to "Mindfulness" and the specific practices that promote more effective, sustainable work relationships, positive relationships with your clients, as well as, the outcome of your cases.

Rule 1.1 of the Pennsylvania Rules of Professional Conduct provides that "A lawyer shall provide competent representation to a client." The Business Law Section Mindfulness at the Bar Program will provide our members an opportunity to learn and experience the benefits of practicing law mindfully. Mindfulness for lawyers promotes more effective, sustainable work relationships that can positively impact our justice system.

Mindfulness is an awareness of life in the present moment creating the opportunity to pause, breathe, and connect with oneself so that we may be able to moderate our reaction and respond thoughtfully to our clients and colleagues. For the same reasons, practicing mindfulness in law enhance our capacity to be more genuine and present for what arises in our interactions.

Join us for a panel discussion led by lawyers and mindfulness experts on integrating mindfulness principles and techniques into the practice of law. The pressures of legal practice are significant, and lawyers need tools to deal with the pressures they face in order to perform optimally and enjoy their professional and personal lives fully. This engaging discussion will introduce you to the concept of mindfulness, as well as some concrete ideas to help you begin to integrate a stress-reducing mindset into your everyday work life.

In this program, you will:
- Gain an overview of the history of mindfulness and meditation and the scientific evidence of its benefits
- Learn to integrate mindfulness into your practice
- Receive concrete guidance decreasing stress and anxiety in your work life and develop increased resilience, focus, and the avoidance of unnecessary mistakes

Allow mindfulness to be an everyday tool to enable better focus in your practice of law and bring an enjoyment into your work environment.
