CLE - Mindfulness in Practice

Business Law Section Mindfulness Series

Join us for the fourth and final program in the Business Law Section Mindfulness series. Building on the Introduction to Mindfulness, Mindful Decision-Making and Leading Mindfully CLE programs, this program explores mindfulness in your everyday practice. The program centers around interactive activities to apply mindfulness in your work with a focus on ethics.

Understand how mindfulness directly applies to the following Rules of Professional Conduct: 1.1 Competence, 1.4 Communication, 1.7 Conflict of Interest: Current Clients, 3.4 Fairness to Opposing Party and Counsel, 4.1 Truthfulness in Statements to Others, and 4.2 Communication with Person Represented by Counsel.

Through a series of group exercises and hypotheticals, the experienced practitioners from each of the previous three programs in the Mindfulness series will join together to highlight:

  • Partner and associate feedback/evaluation
  • Pro Bono Client Meeting/Communication
  • Opposing Counsel Negotiation Immediate
  • Client Request for Completion of a project

The program will also address "Right Speech" as it applies to ethical speech. Faculty will explore the concept of "Right Speech," which can be defined as speaking truthfully and honestly; speaking in a way to promote harmony and good will; and using language to reduce anger and ease tensions.

Allow mindfulness to be an everyday tool to enable better focus in your practice of law and bring greater enjoyment to your work environment.
