TODAY: Video Encore_Mediating a Landlord Tenant Dispute

CLE - Mediating a Landlord Tenant Dispute

Lunchtime training for volunteer attorneys to handle landlord tenant disputes.

In 2009, the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas and the Philadelphia Bar Association launched the successful Landlord Tenant Appellate Mediation Program (LTAMP). Through LTAMP, volunteer lawyers admitted to practice at least four years meet with parties in landlord tenant disputes that have been appealed from Municipal Court to the Court of Common Pleas before trial and attempt to bring the parties to an agreement through mediation. LTAMP saves the court valuable trial time and provides lawyers with an opportunity to use transactional and contract skills in a pro bono setting.

The goal of LTAMP is not only to help mediate and resolve landlord-tenant disputes, but reduce the number of cases that must be tried, thus making for a more efficient appellate process in the Court of Common Pleas.

In this video encore program, lawyers will learn the rules of LTAMP, review the documents used at mediation and hear typical case scenarios. The Philadelphia Bar Association’s Senior Staff Counsel, Public & Legal Services, Amy Seefeld, will be there to answer questions regarding the LTAMP program.

Attendees MUST agree to handle at least one mediation within thirty days of the course in order to receive CLE credits.

This program may be particularly attractive to transactional lawyers, whose negotiating skills will be well utilized.
