Hosted and presented by the Legal Rights of Children Committee in Partnership with the University of Pennsylvania's Youth Advocacy Project
This CLE program will explore issues facing youth in the criminal justice system related to special education and the effects of complex trauma. Drawing on their expertise in social work, education, and the law, panelists will offer strategies to enhance youth advocacy, including best practices in engaging youth in crisis and advocating for youth with special education needs.
Panelists will examine ways attorneys can leverage community partners and legal strategy to enhance their clients' access to education before, during and after entry into the criminal justice system. This presentation will also analyze the intersection of school push out and childhood trauma, as well as methods to stop the school-to-prison pipeline.
