WHEREAS, in December 2001, Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Allan Gordon empanelled a Pro Bono Task Force to comprehensively evaluate the need for, and the delivery of, pro bono legal services to the needy, disadvantaged and disenfranchised in Philadelphia;
WHEREAS, the Pro Bono Task Force, after extensive research and investigation, submitted a Report, including Findings and Recommendations ("the Report") to the Board of Governors on June 27, 2002;
WHEREAS, the Board of Governors, after discussion and upon oral motion made and duly seconded, accepted the Report for comment and study;
WHEREAS, the Pro Bono Task Force recommended the Bar Association fully embrace Philadelphia VIP by honoring its historical financial commitment and recognizing its central role in the delivery of pro bono legal services.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Philadelphia Bar Association approves, accepts and supports this recommendation and approves the funding of VIP based on its needs and other relevant criteria.PHILADELPHIA BAR ASSOCIATION
