WHEREAS, in December 2001, Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Allan Gordon empanelled a Pro Bono Task Force to comprehensively evaluate the need for, and the delivery of, pro bono legal services to the needy, disadvantaged and disenfranchised in Philadelphia;
WHEREAS, the Pro Bono Task Force, after extensive research and investigation, submitted a Report, including Findings and Recommendations ("the Report") to the Board of Governors on June 27, 2002;
WHEREAS, the Board of Governors, after discussion and upon oral motion made and duly seconded, accepted the Report for comment and study;
WHEREAS, the Pro Bono Task Force recommended the Philadelphia Bar Association encourage large and mid-sized firms to fully support pro bono;
WHEREAS, the Board of Governors recognizes the importance of promoting pro bono participation by these constituents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Philadelphia Bar Association approves, accepts and supports this recommendation and asks the Large Firm Management Committee and the Mid-Size Law Firm Management Committee to each designate a representative to handle pro bono outreach and assess the needs of its members to assist in their pro bono endeavors.PHILADELPHIA BAR ASSOCIATION
