WHEREAS, in December 2001, Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Allan Gordon empanelled a Pro Bono Task Force to comprehensively evaluate the need for, and the delivery of, pro bono legal services to the needy, disadvantaged and disenfranchised in Philadelphia;
WHEREAS, the Pro Bono Task Force, after extensive research and investigation, submitted a Report, including Findings and Recommendations ("the Report") to the Board of Governors on June 27, 2002;
WHEREAS, the Board of Governors, after discussion and upon oral motion made and duly seconded, accepted the Report for comment and study;
WHEREAS, the Pro Bono Task Force recommended that the Philadelphia Bar Association Board of Governors annually devote one meeting to the state of pro bono delivery of legal services in Philadelphia;
WHEREAS, the Board of Governors recognizes the importance of continued analysis and review of the state of pro bono.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Philadelphia Bar Association approves, accepts and supports this recommendation and commits to annually schedule a meeting dedicated to assessing the state of pro bono delivery of legal services in Philadelphia.PHILADELPHIA BAR ASSOCIATION
