
WHEREAS, the Committee on Insurance Programs is responsible for the general oversight of insurance programs offered to the members of the Association;
WHEREAS, the Association’s broker of record is Colburn Insurance Service;
WHEREAS, presently the long-term disability insurance program for members is being carried by UNUM Insurance Company;
WHEREAS, UNUM has advised Colburn Insurance Service that it will no longer write any new Association long term disability policies after July 1, 2000;
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the Association to have a long term disability program;
WHEREAS, Colburn Insurance Service recommends that the Association move its endorsement of the long term disability program from UNUM to Baltimore Life Insurance Company of America which has an A (Excellent) rating from A.M. Best rating service, and will mirror current coverage for all those presently insured under the UNUM program;
WHEREAS, the Insurance Programs Committee has voted to make such a recommendation to the Association’s Board of Governors,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of Governors agrees to move the endorsement of the long-term disability program from UNUM to Baltimore Life Insurance Company of America.
