Voters' Guide to Judicial Elections
The Association's Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention evaluates judicial candidates to help voters make decisions about candidates for judicial office. The Commission's evaluations are based on criteria such as legal ability, experience, temperament, administrative ability, integrity and devotion to improvement of the quality of justice.
2017 Review Process
The review process is underway for 2017 candidates for Judge of the Court of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, Judge of the Philadelphia Municipal Court and statewide appellate court candidates with a principal office or chambers in Philadelphia. Candidates were asked to submit a completed Candidate Questionnaire and writing samples by the announced March 7, 2017 deadline. Candidates who failed to submit a completed Candidate Questionnaire and writing samples by the deadline automatically receive a “not recommended” rating.
The Commission will be meeting regularly through April, reviewing and rating candidates for judicial office. The ratings, accessed through the appropriate link below, will be updated frequently as candidate reviews are completed.
