Philadelphia Bar Association Statement on Court Actions Due to COVID-19
Chancellor Hon. A. Michael Snyder (ret.) of the Philadelphia Bar Association, the nation's oldest metropolitan Bar Association, issued the following statement in response to court actions due to COVID-19:
"As the spread of COVID-19 continues, and in recognition of the efforts to contain the spread of the virus, we have been advised that the First Judicial District continues to take actions to protect the health of the public. Orders have been released by the Court staying Writs of Possession, Sheriff's Sales, and Evictions from real property. In-Court Supervised Visitation has also been restricted. We have been informed that we will receive speedy notice of further actions being taken.
"The safety of the public must be paramount in all of our actions.
"We support the efforts of the Court in these trying times and continue to be ready to assist the Court in its efforts to communicate its decisions to the members of the Bar and to the public."
