Philadelphia Bar Association to Sponsor Law School for Non-LawyersPhiladelphia-area residents can receive basic information about areas of the law most likely to impact on their daily lives when the Young Lawyers Division of the Philadelphia Bar Association presents The Peoples Law Schoola six-session adult legal education program for non-lawyers beginning Tuesday, Sept. 20.
The program will be held from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. at the Criminal Justice Centers Jury Assembly Room, 13th and Filbert Streets in Center City Philadelphia. Classes are scheduled for Sept. 20, 27, Oct. 4, 11, 18, and 25.
Topics to be covered include: bankruptcy law, consumer fraud law, criminal law and procedure, employment law, family law, landlord/tenant law, municipal courts/small business claims, personal injury/tort law, real estate law, and workers compensation law. Each week, local attorneys from both the private and public sectors will speak on topics related to their area of practice.
The fee for the entire six-week program, which includes the course manual, is only $40. Pre-registration for the course will close on Tuesday, Sept. 6. On-site registration will be available if space permits.
