Volunteer Lawyers Offer Free Legal Advice for Small Business Owners
Volunteer Philadelphia lawyers on Nov. 29 offered free legal advice and provided answers to tough legal questions for minority small business owners in Philadelphia at a free public service breakfast. Listen to the podcast of the event here.
The event, "The Legal Edge: What You Need to Know About the Law to Ensure the Success of Your Small Business," was sponsored by the 13,000-member Philadelphia Bar Association. Co-sponsors included the African American Chamber of Commerce, Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia, Global Indian Chamber of Commerce, Minority Business Enterprise Council, Urban League of Philadelphia, Inc., Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania, and the Barristers' Association of Philadelphia.
A panel of lawyers spoke on everyday issues faced by minority small business owners, including employment, workers' compensation, zoning, contracts, taxes, and compliance with city regulations.
