Len Rieser, Executive Director of the Education Law Center, Named Recipient of Public Interest Section's 2010 Andrew Hamilton AwardLen Rieser, the Executive Director of the Education Law Center, has been named the winner of the Public Interest Section’s 2010 Andrew Hamilton Award. The award will be conferred at the Section's Annual Awards Ceremony and Reception on Thursday, December 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel. Click here to register for the event. Rieser has been with the Education Law Center (ELC) since 1982, becoming co-director in 1993. He has dedicated his career to expanding and enforcing the educational rights of Pennsylvania’s schoolchildren and has handled cases and projects in all of ELC’s major areas of education advocacy. Rieser earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and has worked in the Civil Rights Division of the U. S. Department of Justice.
The Andrew Hamilton Award is given annually to a legal services advocate or public defender whose purpose is to serve persons who cannot afford to pay for legal representation, or to a public-interest lawyer working with a nonprofit organization serving a charitable or public interest purpose.
