October 1 Law Star Game to Benefit the Philadelphia Bar Foundation
On Wednesday, October 1, the Young Lawyers Division of the 13,000-member Philadelphia Bar Association is hosting The Law Star Game, a charitable game of softball at the Riversharks Campbell's Field, benefiting legal services organizations.
The Law Star Game will feature in-house counsel playing against firm lawyers for seven innings, with fun children's activities during the game. The field opens at 5:00 p.m.; at 5:30 p.m. there will be a Home Run Derby in which hitters will swing against Don Chalphin, advertising director at The Legal Intelligencer, getting five swings to hit as many home runs as possible. At 6:30 p.m. the softball game will start, with first pitch thrown out by Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor William P. Fedullo. Each inning, one lucky winner will receive a generous giveaway from one of our sponsors. The evening will close out around 9:00 p.m. with a fireworks show over Campbell's Field.
"Providing legal services to the people of Philadelphia is at the core of the Philadelphia Bar Association's mission," Chancellor Fedullo said. "I congratulate the Young Lawyers Division for making sure that all the proceeds from The Law Star Game will go to help those in need of legal services. I'm happy to participate in something that is fun and innovate and helps so many."
All proceeds from the event go to the Philadelphia Bar Foundation - the philanthropic arm of the Philadelphia Bar Association. The Foundation's mission is to promote equal access to justice for everyone.
"What better way to raise the bar in our 50th anniversary year than with this new and exciting event! We are truly amazed by the unyielding support of everyone who came together to make the Law Star game happen. This is a hit out of the park for the YLD - let's play ball," said Philadelphia Bar Foundation President Deborah Gross.
The Philadelphia Bar Association, founded in 1802, is the oldest association of lawyers in the United States.
