Bar Seeking Nominations for Scalia Award for Professional Excellence
Nominations are now being accepted for the Philadelphia Bar Association's inaugural Justice Antonin Scalia Award for Professional Excellence. The award will be presented by Justice Scalia at the Association's April 29 Quarterly Meeting and Luncheon. The award is presented to the lawyer or judge who has, through his or her life and work, exhibited the high ideals and commitment to professionalism exemplified by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. The Award recognizes a lifelong record of professional accomplishment, scholarship, reverence for the law and learning, and a yearning for mental engagement and productive discourse, as well as a true spirit of cordiality, good humor and respect for others.
The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 26. Nominations should state a candidate's worthiness for the award in 500 words or less and include all relevant supporting materials. Nominations should be mailed to Justice Antonin Scalia Award for Professional Excellence, c/o Elaine Lippe, Philadelphia Bar Association, 1101 Market St., 11th Fl., Philadelphia, PA 19107. Joseph V. Del Raso and William M. Janssen are co-chairs of the Scalia Award Committee.
