Greenleaf to Address Criminal Justice Section; CLE to FollowPennsylvania state Sen. Stewart J. Greenleaf will discuss two important bills at the Tuesday, July 26 meeting of the Criminal Justice Section.
He will discuss S.B. 100, which provides for court-imposed sanctions for offenders violating probation, and further providing for county intermediate punishment programs, among other measures. He will also discuss S.B. 1153 that would expand the amount of time in which prisoners may file for post-conviction relief based on after-discovered evidence. The Section meeting begins at 11:45 a.m. Sen. Greenleaf is expected to speak from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. in the 11th floor Conference Center of Bar Association headquarters, 1101 Market St.If you are unable to attend the event, it will be live-tweeted at #CJSGreenleaf.
The Criminal Justice Section will present the CLE program "What May Happen to Your Criminal Clients' Housing, Employment, Public Benefits and/or Driving Privileges upon Conviction and How to Mitigate It-Collateral Consequences of Criminal Convictions" on Tuesday, July 26.
Panelists include Rachel Garland, Janet Ginzberg and Rebecca Vallas of Community Legal Services. The moderator is Jordan F. Barnett of the Defender Association of Philadelphia. The course planner is Isla A. Fruchter of the Defender Association.
The program has been approved for 1 substantive CLE credit. Participants wishing to receive the CLE credit will be required to pay a fee of $25 for members of the Philadelphia Bar Association admitted for more than five years, and $20 for members of the Philadelphia Bar Association admitted for less than five years.
