Legal aid aided
Kudos to Philadelphia Bar Association chancellor Alan M. Feldman, who's having remarkable success with his "Raising the Bar" campaign to raise funds for legal services for the poor.
Many of the city's 20 largest law firms are on board with contributions of $300 per lawyer toward these pro bono efforts. The bar's charitable foundation hopes to raise $700,000 from these and other firms.
Last year, donations made possible grants of between $2,000 and $100,000 to 29 legal organizations that provide the city's neediest citizens with counsel on housing, family, and other pressing matters.
