Thomas A. Spratt Jr. Named 2007 Craig M. Perry Service Award Recipient by Young Lawyers Division
Thomas A. Spratt Jr., an associate at Pepper Hamilton LLP, will receive the Craig M. Perry Service Award at the Philadelphia Bar Association Young Lawyer Divisions annual meeting Wednesday, February 21 at the Doubletree Hotel.
The award is presented annually to a young lawyer who has devoted substantial time and energy to community-oriented activities, including, but not limited to, pro bono and charity work. Perry was a member of the YLD Executive Committee who suffered an untimely death. He was very involved in community service and active in student-related and other YLD programs.
Spratt has gone to great lengths to actively encourage law firms and attorneys to volunteer with Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project (CBAP) since the bankruptcy laws were reformed in 2005. He routinely takes pro bono cases from CBAP and Philadelphia VIP. CBAPs assistance not only helps clear debts for some of Philadelphias poorest residents but allows them to stay in their homes and keep their utility services connected. Spratt is a 2005 graduate of Rutgers University School of Law.
Phil Martelli, St. Joseph Universitys basketball head coach, will be the keynote speaker for the YLD annual meeting, which begins at noon. More information on the meeting is available at philadelphiabar.org.
