RESOLUTION TO ADOPT DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION ACTION PLAN AND INDIVIDUAL DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION ACTION PLAN CHECKLIST

WHEREAS, diversity and inclusion are core values of the Philadelphia Bar Association; and

WHEREAS, on September 22, 2014, the Philadelphia Bar Association adopted a revised Statement of Diversity and Inclusion Principals, which states, in part: "Creating a diverse and inclusive environment is a long-term commitment to the future of the profession, and achieving diversity and inclusion is a continuing process that requires a steadfast commitment by the bar." and

WHEREAS, reflecting its steadfast commitment to the achievement of diversity and inclusion, the Philadelphia Bar Association has developed a Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, attached hereto, to set forth goals, metrics and reporting mechanisms to ensure the Association fulfills its commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in the legal profession; and

WHEREAS, in order for the leadership of this Association to set an example for others to follow, the Philadelphia Bar Association has developed an Individual Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan Checklist, attached hereto, designed to encourage bar leaders to engage in activities that promote diversity and inclusion.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Philadelphia Bar Association adopts the attached Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan and the attached Individual Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan Checklist.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Philadelphia Bar Association shall disseminate the Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan and the Individual Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan Checklist to the public and to members of the profession, and shall strongly encourage adherence thereto.
