  • Take Action Philly Celebrates National Citizenship Day

    In recognition of National Citizenship Day, September 17, the City and the Philadelphia Bar Association announce progress for Take Action Philly (TAP), an initiative uniting lawyers, government, community organizations and residents to protect and assist Philadelphia’s most vulnerable residents.

  • Support the Expansion of Protections Under the Pa. "Hate Crimes" Law

    It is important for the legal community to take action to support the rule of law and condemn hatred and bigotry. One important way is to advocate. Alarmingly, Pennsylvania Senate Bill 96 and Pennsylvania House Bill 505 seek to expand the definition of ethnic intimidation and have been languishing in Harrisburg. A crime motivated by hatred toward these protected classes would be graded higher than specified under current law.

  • Court Order Allows Out-of-State, Displaced Lawyers to Practice in Texas

    The Supreme Court of Texas issued an Emergency Order to permit out-of-state lawyers to practice law in Texas for up to six months, on Tuesday, Aug. 29. The order allows an attorney licensed and in good standing in a U.S. jurisdiction to practice in Texas if they have been displaced by the hurricane from their home jurisdiction or if they are providing services to victims of Hurricane Harvey through a legal aid program, pro bono program or bar association.
