Statement of Goals of Philadelphia Law Firms and Legal Departments for Increasing Minority Representation and Retention

On March 30, 1993, the Philadelphia Bar Association's Board of Governors adopted the Statement of Goals for Increasing Minority Representation and Retention. Since that time, close to 50 major law firms and legal departments in Philadelphia have agreed to participate in the program, and many others are supporters of its principles.
Similar to proposals adopted in New York City, Washington, D.C., Houston and Los Angeles, this document acknowledges the importance of the work done by law firms and legal departments to achieve greater diversity. Taken together and implemented with the Statement of Goals for the Retention and Promotion of Women, it represents the Philadelphia legal community's best efforts to attract and retain qualified minority attorneys.
Organizations which have reviewed and considered the Goals are urged to join many other Philadelphia firms and legal departments in becoming a signatory in support of this Statement and to share their thoughts on the issues it addresses. A form is available to facilitate this process.
