Volunteer Panels Needed for Federal Court

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania invites you to join one of its prisoner civil rights and employment panels.

The members of the prisoner civil rights panel provide legal representation to prison inmates for constitutional violations by law enforcement officers before the inmate was incarcerated that relate to the matter(s) for which the inmate is then incarcerated.

The employment panel members represent plaintiffs in cases that are brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination Employment Act, the Americans With Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act and state claims which can be properly appended to federal employment claims.

37th Philadelphia Bar Association 5K Run/Walk May 15

Join the Philadelphia Bar Association and Support Center for Child Advocates for the 37th Philadelphia Bar Association 5K Run/Walk at Memorial Hall, Fairmount Park, on Sunday, May 15 at 8:30 a.m. This family-friendly event offers fun activities for people of all ages, including the Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Kids Dash, the Caesar Rivise Team Competition, face painting, balloon animals and more. Trainers from Platoon Fitness will be on hand before the race to help you stretch out and get ready to run.

Preakness at the Piazza May 21

Preakness at the Piazza is a fundraising event to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at The Piazza in Northern Liberties on Saturday, May 21 at 5 p.m. The event celebrates the 141st running of the Preakness Stakes and features an open bar, great food, live music, fashion contest and more. Preakness at the Piazza has raised more than $331,000 for the MS Society in its three-year history. The event is 21+ and an expected 1,300 young professionals will attend, all dressed to impress in big hats and colorful bow ties. Watch a video from last year's event here to experience the fun. The goal is to raise more than $125,000 for the fight against MS. More than 15,000 people are living with MS in in the Greater Philadelphia region. Most people do not know that multiple sclerosis is a devastating disease of the central nervous system that usually first strikes people when they are in their 20s and 30s. Every dollar raised gets a little bit closer to a world free of MS.

The Career Center is geared toward both job seekers and employers. Job seekers can search and apply to more legal-related jobs than other job banks. They can upload an anonymous resume and allow employers to contact them through the Career Center's messaging system. Job seekers can also set up Job Alerts specifying skills, interests and preferred location(s) to receive email notifications when a job is posted that matches their criteria.

Employers can post job openings in front of the most qualified group of legal professionals. Employers can promote jobs directly to Philadelphia Bar Association members via the exclusive Jobs Flash email as well as search the resume database to find qualified candidates.
