Resolution Recognizing Drexel University’s New College Of Law

WHEREAS, Drexel University is the first private, nationally-ranked university to open a law school in more than twenty years; and,

WHEREAS, the Drexel University College of Law has, by word and deed, committed itself to providing an excellent legal education, to teaching the lawyering skills that are essential to success, and to imparting the traditions and values of our profession to all its students; and,

WHEREAS, Drexel Law is the first law school to have enrolled all of its students in the Young Lawyers Division of the Philadelphia Bar Association, and has affiliated itself with all of the region’s minority, ethnic and specialty bar associations so that its students may obtain mentors and experience the professional life of the lawyer; and,

WHEREAS, Drexel Law has joined with the other law schools in the Philadelphia area in having a very strong commitment to pro bono and public service.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Philadelphia Bar Association applauds Drexel University, its President Constantine Papadakis, and its new College of Law for contributing to the richness and excellence of the Philadelphia legal community, and welcomes its faculty and students into the traditions and life of the Philadelphia Lawyer.
