WHEREAS, in December 2001, Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Allan Gordon empanelled a Pro Bono Task Force to comprehensively evaluate the need for, and the delivery of, pro bono legal services to the needy, disadvantaged and disenfranchised in Philadelphia;
WHEREAS, the Pro Bono Task Force, after extensive research and investigation, submitted a Report, including Findings and Recommendations ("the Report") to the Board of Governors on June 27, 2002;
WHEREAS, the Board of Governors, after discussion and upon oral motion made and duly seconded, accepted the Report for comment and study;
WHEREAS, the Pro Bono Task Force recommended that the Philadelphia Bar Association and the Philadelphia Bar Foundation expand and strengthen their joint initiatives;
WHEREAS, the Board of Governors recognizes the importance of the collaboration of the Bar Association and the Bar Foundation on pro bono issues including, among other things, maximizing technology, marketing pro bono opportunities and educating the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Philadelphia Bar Association approves, accepts and supports this recommendation and requests the leadership of the Bar Foundation and the Bar Association to work in concert to implement the specific recommendations of the Pro Bono Task Force.PHILADELPHIA BAR ASSOCIATION
