WHEREAS, for close to 200 years, this Association has dedicated itself to the rule of law in our society, and

WHEREAS, April 23, 1995 was a day of national mourning for the citizens of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and those who were injured and killed at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bomb blast on April 19, 1995, and

WHEREAS, that event has placed a scar on this country’s dedication to the rule of law and has made us recommit our efforts to the maintenance of a just and rational society, and

WHEREAS, our hearts go out to the families of the victims,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association, on behalf of its 13,000 members, expresses its deepest sympathy to the families of the victims, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Philadelphia Bar Association donates $1,000 to the American Red Cross and asks that it be earmarked for the aid and comfort of those who have been victimized by this tragic event.
