The Association's Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention evaluates judicial candidates to help voters make decisions about candidates for judicial office. The Commission's evaluations are based on criteria such as legal ability, experience, temperament, administrative ability, integrity and devotion to improvement of the quality of justice.

2017 Review Process

The review process has concluded for 2017 candidates for Judge of the Court of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, Judge of the Philadelphia Municipal Court, statewide appellate court candidates with a principal office or chambers in Philadelphia and current Judges seeking retention to the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas and Philadelphia Municipal Court. Candidates and current Judges seeking retention were asked to submit a completed Candidate Questionnaire and writing samples by an announced deadline. Candidates and current Judges seeking retention who failed to submit a completed Candidate Questionnaire and writing samples by the deadline automatically receive a “not recommended” rating.
