A Message from Chancellor Lauren P. McKenna
As recent events have shown us, a unified voice for the legal community is needed more than ever.
Happy New Year and welcome to 2021. I hope you had a safe and restful holiday season.
As the events in Washington, D.C. have shown us, while we have entered a new year, many of the challenges that we have grappled with throughout last year will continue to challenge us, including threats to the rule of law, the pandemic and the fight to eradicate racial injustice.
What has also been made clear is that our community matters now more than ever. As lawyers, it is our obligation to protect and preserve the rule of law, and to use our position to seek justice, to amplify the voices that might otherwise struggle to be heard. We can come together and speak as one and your membership in this Association allows us to do that.
While it is clear that we have a lot of hard work to do, both as a nation and as an Association, as Chancellor, I am excited about the year to come. We will continue to work to have courageous conversations surrounding racial injustice, equity and inclusion, and we will continue to talk about ways to promote this profession, to make Philadelphia a better place to live and work.
I ask that you join me in this effort. Please step up, in ways that you can, to assist the Association in its important work. We welcome your involvement.
I look forward to connecting with you in 2021, both in written messages and by video, to let you know how we are doing as an Association and our efforts to promote the legal profession. I want to thank you all for what you’ve done for this Association and I look forward to working with you in the year ahead. Happy New Year and stay safe. Thank you.
