President Judge Fox Cancels June Criminal Trials and Hearings; Amends Reopening Protocols
President Judge Idee Fox, as Chair of the Administrative Governing Board of the First Judicial District, issued Administrative Order No. 35 of 2020 canceling June criminal trials and hearings. However, each case previously scheduled in June will remain listed for status before their assigned judge, with the use of Advanced Communications Technology strongly encouraged.
President Judge Fox also amended Administrative Order No. 33 to clarify that Notices of Intent to take default judgment required by PA.R.C.P. 237.1 filed before May 11, 2020, must be resent, rather than refiled. The order was also amended to clarify that the issuance of residential writs of possession and the execution or enforcement of residential writs of possession which were stayed by orders issued on March 15, 2020 (Nos. 7 and 8 of 2020 and April 22, 2020 (NO. 31 of 2020) will resume upon the expiration of Governor Wolf’s Stay-At-Home Order to Philadelphia, or July 10, 2020, whichever date is later.
