RESOLUTION HONORING PAUL J. KAZARAS FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE PHILADELPHIA BAR ASSOCIATION
WHEREAS, Paul J. Kazaras has served the Philadelphia Bar Association, the oldest association of lawyers in the United States, for more than 37 years, the last 15 years as Assistant Executive Director; and
WHEREAS, Paul J. Kazaras has been deeply appreciated and respected by all Chancellors; other Association officers; Board of Governors Chairs; members of the Board of Governors; Chairs, Co-Chairs and members of the Professional Responsibility and Professional Guidance Committees of this Association for his wise counsel, sound judgment and exceptional dedication; and
WHEREAS, Paul J. Kazaras has been a tireless and selfless staff leader for these two committees and an invaluable member of the Philadelphia Bar Association staff; and
WHEREAS, Paul J. Kazaras's leadership, care and dedication to the members of the Philadelphia legal community regarding professional guidance and ethical issues in Pennsylvania is unparalleled; and
WHEREAS, Paul J. Kazaras's time, energy and intellectual commitment to the ethics hotline, in particular, and to the members of our legal community who have utilized that outstanding service is one of the shining hallmarks of the Philadelphia Bar Association; and
WHEREAS, Paul J. Kazaras has guided the Professional Responsibility Committee regarding proposed ethics rule changes as well as legislative and bar association proposals that may impact the Pennsylvania Rules of Professional Conduct, his evaluations reflecting wise and sound judgment; and
WHEREAS, the Profession Guidance and Professional Responsibility Committees have been fortunate to count Paul J. Kazaras as one of the truly great Philadelphia lawyers in our midst; and
WHEREAS, after more than 37 years of exemplary service to the legal profession and the public, Paul J. Kazaras has decided to leave his position as Assistant Executive Director of the Philadelphia Bar Association as of December 31, 2016, with plans to pursue teaching and other interests within the law, and to continue to be an important presence in the field of legal ethics.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association conveys its deepest gratitude to Paul J. Kazaras for his distinguished service to the legal profession and the community and congratulates him on his service to the Philadelphia Bar Association.
