Law Week May 1-5 - Volunteers Needed!
Legal Advice Live! May 3
Dozens of Philadelphia lawyers will gather to provide free, in-person confidential legal advice to the public at four branches of the Free Library of Philadelphia on Wednesday, May 3 from 12-2 p.m. Volunteers are needed at the Central branch (1901 Vine St.). Attorneys will provide answers to legal questions on a broad range of topics including personal injury, medical malpractice, landlord/tenant law, divorce and child custody matters, wills and estate planning and employment law. Lawyer for a Day May 4
The YLD is looking for volunteers for Lawyer for a Day on Thursday, May 4. Volunteers will meet the students at the Philadelphia Bar Association between 8:45-8:50 a.m. and walk them over to their respective courtrooms. Volunteers will bring the students back to the Association at 12 p.m. for lunch, concluding the program at 1:30 p.m. Between 10-12 volunteers are needed. Goldilocks Program May 5 – Calling All Amateur Actors!
The YLD and the First Judicial District will host second-graders from around the City to attend the trials of Goldilocks, the Big Bad Wolf and Jack (of beanstalk fame) as part of the Annual Goldilocks Program on Friday, May 5 at City Hall from approximately 9-11:30 a.m. The YLD is in need of volunteers to act in these trials.
Scripts will be supplied, and there is no need to memorize. Having fun is a requirement! Please contact Melanie Foreman at mforeman@alumni.upenn.edu to volunteer or request more information.

Judicial Commission: Volunteers Needed for May 16 Primary
Are you interested in making a real, meaningful difference in Philadelphia on Election Day? The Philadelphia Bar Association's Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention needs volunteers to work half or full-day shifts during the primary election on Tuesday, May 16 to hand out its judicial candidate ratings to voters at approximately 100 polling places across the city. This is part of a massive effort to not just promulgate the ratings more effectively, but to collect data for use in future judicial election years.
Please note: You do not need to be an attorney to participate in this effort! Encourage your non-attorney friends to volunteer as well!
